Fall RPP 2006 Poem

Threefold nine and three Fall RPP
Hrafnfoss lies lone and quiet, feeling fall’s cold breath
Yet echoes the ghosts of past, the Hus-kin’s warming touch
Ripplewood calls back, beckoning the spirits near.

Thor’s Day sees Phelan, Tova, and Merek,
They clear the path, and greet the Hostess Zelda
All may come and share the Hall
And blow the horns once more.

Elders Torvald and Greybeard, with Shaylee along
Bring tales of old, ties to the past
Yet speak of their new visions
Of things grand yet to come.

Elder Smith’s sharp adze, to finish roughened bench
Instead draws the First Blood’s flow
A sheath he’ll make, he swears to all
While craftily he takes his ring.

Next come Bjorn and Slava with banner of blood
The Hall is raised, the fire set
Darkness falls and winds howl long
Late come Xarrmon and Desdamona to Hall’s light
All tents are set, slumber calls.

Freya’s Day the flame is struck
And danger’s wood set light
Edvjard, then Raedwulf sound their horns
The Hall grows busy with the laughter of friends.

Desdamona harkens Raedwulf come
Extend his hand to her
Small prick to hand, Baldur’s End
Gives her a ring in turn.

Later still, Runa comes
The Hearth welcomes its mistress
Ulrik and Megan, new to our Hus
Epona of friendship near
And Kerryk, long lost but welcome still
See shadows grow, and night soon comes.

Though darkness falls upon the Hall
Light stretches forth to welcome more
Cyrillis sounds his horn in the night
And Raven, Bjorek, and Misa slip into the circle.

Set crafts and treasures on the bench to trade
Boasts and yarns are spun to value goods
Laughter sounds, and tales are told
And wares change hands with a shake.

Later still the drums rumble forth
And flute joins in the song
Dancers around the fire are lured
Light sparkles in eyes of all.

Saturn’s Day sees sun rise high
And flames again are struck
To clear the fruit of Summer’s toil
And calm the breast of Hostess’ worry.

Flesh of earth is brought to hearth
And harvest’s stalk chopped fine
Stomped to mix and formed on branch
The oven is sculpted and fired.

Strong boles of trees brought low by axe
Are brought to hearth for use
To frame the walls of kitchen’s place
And shield Hearth Mistress’ brow.

Night falls dark, and fire cooled
To welcome Samhuinn in
Family and friends lost to time
Draw near to Hearth’s cold stone.

In the darkness loved ones gather
To see the sparks thrice fly
Smith’s sure breath upon scant glow
Brings forth warm flame for newborn year.

Barter again upon the bench
See treasures changing hands
Smiths in the dark make hooks to hang
Their wares inside the Hall.

Ring Box promised for seasons two
Is brought forth for the Hus
Raedwulf brings out his horde kept long
And makes the box his own.

Fire sprites whisper words of mischief
To minds made numb with drink
Flames roar high, but Hus joins in
To bring the danger low.

Rocks aglow from fire tamed
Warm backs made sore with work
Night draws long and laughter fades
And sleep slips in to stay.

Sun’s Day dawns to packing sounds
And promises to visit soon
Ripplewood echoes loud and long
Of friendships again renewed.
